The Woman In The Stairwell
Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds
Another crazy week. So much so, that I feel like I only have two remaining brain cells. In the spirit of that, here are my two brain cells in writing.
In all honesty, watching general conference (online church broadcast) has never been something I've been good at. But it turns out, staying awake AND watching all 5 sessions is incredible for the soul. Amazing how that works, eh?! My favorite quote from GC came from Elder Giraud-Carrier. He said, "How we treat others is a direct representation of how we feel about the Savior." WOW. OK. Call me out, why don’t you? I've felt my heart soften and grow immensely these past few months, but to love as the Savior did is an entirely different ball game. Translating our love for the Savior to those around us is not easy. As I've been reflecting on what it takes to translate the love we have for Christ to those around us, I've come to see that the only way to do so is to love through Christ. His love is far greater than anything we can compute. By praying to love as He would, we truly can find love in our hearts for anyone. I know how rude, abrasive, sucky, etc., people can be. But if we love out of respect for our Savior, imagine how much better our world would be! Join me and let's work a little harder to love a little more this week!
If you've been closely following my journey (I'm not offended if you only look at the pictures), you'll remember we were teaching a woman named Clara a few months ago. The week she was supposed to get baptized, she told us she changed her mind and completely cut off communication with us. My heart quite literally shattered, and ever since then, I've been praying to get even just one additional interaction with her. Let's just say prayers were answered! Yesterday, we were knocking doors in an area we've knocked quite literally a million times. We got to the last door and as we were waiting outside, a couple appeared in the stairwell. And guess who it was? CLARA! The door we were standing at was hers. She told us she's been wanting to come to church and to reach out this week. Do I know if this will be the turning point in her story? No. Was it an answer to my prayers? Most definitely yes. Clara is one of those people that just radiates light. Her light touched my soul, and having the chance to teach her brought me closer to my Savior. I'm grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers. Take your questions to God with faith, and I promise you will find clarity.
Kk sorry that was a lot, I'll try to keep it shorter next week. God loves you, I love you, and I feel so lucky to have so many beautiful people cheering me on! Have the best week, lovely people!
xoxo,
