Wedding Crashers

Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds

We have interviews with our mission president once every 6 weeks. My group's time slot happened to fall during the time of an African dowry ceremony at our church building. My mission president is from Zimbabwe, so he and his wife were eating it up. So much so that they took us to the wedding. The whole thing was in Twi, everyone was dressed in elaborate outfits (except for us), and the walls were literally shaking because the base of the music was so loud. The best part is, no one even batted an eye at us as we completely crashed a random couple's wedding. Owen Wilson didn't make a guest appearance, but there's always next time.

We survived Hurricane Ophelia. Mostly just some rainy and windy days. Fall is in full mode here, and I love it.

Quote of the week from my man Reggie at Habitat for Humanity: "Romance without finance is a nuisance."

Talked to a ton of people. Lots of crazies, but also some solid normal people. Talking to people is one of my favorite parts of the mission because you really get to hear EVERYTHING. Sometimes, too much, but most of the time just a little sneak peek into people's lives. Something that always overwhelms me with awe is the fact that Christ's teachings, when applied, can help us in all phases of life. Everyone on this earth is unique, and yet, the Gospel of Christ can help each person individually to become better. We talk to strangers all day, and no matter where they are at, there is a role that Christ can play in their lives. He can do the same for you. Wherever you're at in your life, there's room for Christ to join you in your efforts to tackle the day-to-day activities of life. Make room for Him, and I promise you'll find yourself in a happier, more joyful state!

Stats for the week:

Number of public toilets obliterated by homeless people x2 (that we know of...)
Dowry ceremonies attended x1
Piles of junk moved at service x too many
Bizarre streets knocked x12+??
Kids farting during the dinner prayer x1
Sorry for the potty talk. The culprits of the toilet pictured below made me do it! All jokes aside, I hope this week isn't crappy.

xoxo,
Sister Richardson
