Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds

Howdy, howdy, lovely people! My days of city life are over, and I'm officially a country girl! That's right, after 5 months in Alexandria, I got transferred to the opposite side of the mission. If "God's Country" by Blake Shelton and "Buy Dirt" by Luke Bryan were a place, it would be Gainesville, VA. I'm simply in love. I don't even really like animals, but I saw horses legit prancing in a field and screamed out of excitement. My new companion is Sister Haynes! She's an absolute ray of sunshine, and I just love her! Good things are cooking out here in Gainesville.

Alexandria! Wow, that area will always have a piece of my heart. I learned how to love deeper, serve with humility, and saw firsthand what it means to make sacrifices with complete faith in God. People who had next to nothing gave me their everything. So, while I wasn't particularly fond of the moldy apartment or drug-littered streets, I will carry the love, knowledge, and strength I gained with me for the rest of my life. Alexandria, you were good to me, and because of that, you've got my heart.

In a world where you can be anything, be a Maca. Maca is a nickname for one of my favorite humans, Sister Eva Webb. Sister Webb scooped me up from the moment I met her and loved me like her own without a second thought. She opens her home to friends and strangers alike. She gives freely, loves big, and serves from sunup to sundown. She has every excuse to sit around and be furious with the world, and yet, she chooses to wake up, put a smile on her face, and be unapologetically herself every single day. Life is so incredibly unfair, and the older I get, the more I realize how much life can suck. But guess what? Life is what you make of it, and if you love as hard as sweet Sister Webb, I promise you will be unstoppable. Love big and use your specific talents for good. Go love like Maca! Sister Webb, if you're reading this, you've changed my heart forever. I love you, Maca.

It doesn't really hurt me anymore, but it also doesn't make for a great email home. On top of that, I had a lot of unexpected anxiety about ending my mission pop up, so this week was... really something. With that, I thought I'd keep it brief and share some of what's been bouncing around my head for the last 18 months. Growing up, whenever I experienced a setback or some sort of defeat in softball, my dad would often tell me, "The game's not over until it is." In other words, regardless of how far behind you may be, you always have the ability to make a comeback because there's still time left on the clock. I'm serving right below the area I served in a few months ago and right next to my first area. Honestly, I couldn't be happier; I love this little neck of the woods!
