Sister Richardson's Super Split Christmas Message

Merry Christmas to all my favorite people! The birth of our Savior deserves more than a few bullet points, hence the deviation from my normal email style. I hope this message finds you well and that something in this little email can help you find Christ today!

The Mark

The star over Bethlehem is a key symbol in the Christmas Nativity story. Its appearance in the sky fulfilled prophecies and revealed to the world that Christ, the Savior, had been born. The star also proved to be a key mark for all those seeking Christ, including the Wise Men.

It’s predicted that the Wise Men journeyed for a few years to find Jesus. We know that the Wise Men started their journey to find Christ after seeing the star. In addition, the star proved to be a source of navigation for the Wise Men. However, with the rise of the sun each day, their key mark became hidden for what we can assume was a large portion of their journey. When we stop to consider this, it’s no wonder why the Wise Men have a prominent role in the Nativity story.

Like the Wise Men of old, we too have set out on a journey that requires unwavering faith. That journey is the adventure we call life. None of us know how long our journey will be or what trials we will face while we navigate life. We will make wrong turns, face hiccups, and encounter bumps in the road. However, unlike the Wise Men, our mark will always remain in sight.

Today, we celebrate the birth of the Ultimate Mark, Jesus Christ. He set the ultimate example for each of us, and as we keep our eyes set on Him, we will be able to navigate our way home to our Father in Heaven. So, today of all days, please find a way to see the Savior, and I promise you will feel joy.

Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds As you all know, I've never been shy about sharing my realities. With that in mind, people were mean, and I mean mean this week. It doesn't really hurt me anymore, but it also doesn't make for a great email home. On top of that, I had a lot of unexpected anxiety about ending my mission pop up, so this week was... really something. With that, I thought I'd keep it brief and share some of what's been bouncing around my head for the last 18 months. Growing up, whenever I experienced a setback or some sort of defeat in softball, my dad would often tell me, "The game's not over until it is." I'm serving right below the area I served in a few months ago and right next to my first area. Honestly, I couldn't be happier; I love this little neck of the woods!
