...It Builds Character

Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds

Three pitbulls, each 150 lbs, I might add, jumped on top of me when we knocked on someone's door this week. Not the first time it's happened and definitely not the last either.

God sends us angels every single day. He hears our prayers and He knows when we need an extra boost of heavenly love to make it through the day! This past week, Charlie, Ken, Kimberly, the cookie lady, and Jackie were my angels! I'll probably never see most of them again, but they will forever hold a spot in my heart because they boosted me through some hard days. Who are your angels?

My mantra for most of 2023 was, "...it builds character." Anytime anyone pointed out the obviousness of a less-than-ideal situation, I responded with, "Yep, but it builds character." This started as a joke but quickly turned into a reality. Why, you ask? Well, I had to learn pretty early on that when crap hits the fan, we have two choices. The easier choice is most definitely to pack your crap-covered tent and go home, but the more beneficial choice is to take a deep breath and begin the process of cleaning and rebuilding your tent. 2023 brought me so much growth because it presented me with so many opportunities to rebuild my tent—or rather, my character and my relationship with Jesus Christ. At this point in time, I don't think I'm rebuilding the same tent, and I'm perfectly OK with that. The tent I was using at the start of last year was comparable to that of a cheap pop-up tent. So while I definitely haven't reached glamping, canopy status, I'd like to think I've at least settled into a more reliable REI status tent. 2023, you were tough, but I wouldn't trade your trials for the world. With that, here's to another year of tent renovations!!

Much love,
Sister Richardson
