Walking U.N.

Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds

We discovered this delicious Mediterranean restaurant down the road from us. The chicken shawarma goes crazy and so does my man Omar at the cash register.

I love the city because it truly is a walking United Nations. We get to talk with people from every corner of the world, and it makes for some good conversations. Just the other day we were volunteering at a community center, and in the span of 2 hours, I talked with a lady who escaped Cambodia right before the Khmer Rouge took over, 5 Ethiopian men who fled from revolutions, 2 Korean grandmas, and some boss moms from Sierra Leone. The human race is truly beautiful.

Our car was due for an oil change, so we went on a little field trip to my old stomping ground on Friday! In true Alexandria fashion, things took a wild turn quickly. We were making some calls and doing some online work when all of the sudden, some man walked out of the local Dave and Buster's and vomited in the trash can right next to us while we waited for our car.

I'm trying to be better about focusing on the NOW. We aren't guaranteed a whole lot in life, but we're always guaranteed the NOW. So even in the moments where I feel like crying out of exhaustion or screaming out of frustration, I try to remind myself that it truly is a blessing to be able to experience life, and a mission, in all its glory. I know there will be a day when my time as a missionary comes to an end, and when that day comes, I want to make sure I feel like I've really given my all. I'm definitely guilty of wishing time would move faster because there is so much that I miss about my life at home, but I also know that there is nothing better I could be doing right NOW. So, until that day comes, I will continue to do my best to accept the NOW with grace, patience, and trust in God! What are you doing right NOW, and what can you learn from it?

I love you all!!

xoxo,
Sister Richardson
