Looking For Wilson
Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds
Virginia is just so beautiful! Little hints of fall are peeking out, and it's just stunning!
In need of some entertainment? Venture out to the Springfield McD's, and I promise you'll come out feeling real good. In the span of one hour, we witnessed three adult men (from the same group, I might add) sit at different tables and have a loud conversation across said tables, a homeless lady nearly take off her pants (thank goodness for underwear), and to top it all off, a man miss the trash can and leave all the damage from his breakfast on the floor of the entrance. Fine dining, am I right? Let's just say not much studying was done because we simply couldn't take our eyes away from the madness all around us.
Humbling moment: Our friend wouldn't open the door for our lesson, but we could hear that he was home. So, we proceeded to call said friend and heard him decline our call through the door to his apartment. The icing on the cake was walking out of the building to see torrential downpour. We parked far away and had zero rain gear. So we did the only reasonable thing: laughed so hard at life while running from building to building trying to get home. We genuinely looked like Dumb and Dumber, but it was so. incredibly. funny.
Alright, now you're probably wondering, who is Wilson? Well, let me tell you!
Wilson is from Hong Kong but has lived here for about 20 years. He's a member of our church, but he has been going to a different church because he didn't know how to find our church when he moved here. No one knew who he was, so we decided to do some searching. We stopped by his house, found him home, and had a good conversation! We sent him the info for church, unsure if he'd even respond. When he didn't, we assumed he wasn't interested in coming back to our church. However, without notice, Wilson showed up to church yesterday for the first time in at least a decade! It was really special to see him remember the simple truths he was taught years ago. Wilson reminded me that it's never too late. We can change, try again, make new habits, start fresh, have a clean slate—whatever it is, we can do it because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It makes all things right.
Sending hugs to each one of you!
XOXO,
