Freaky Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Image
Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds I didn't think I'd have much to report on after only a few days, but boy, oh boy, was I wrong. If there's one thing you can count on, it's that things will get weird out here real fast. We also had some spiritual highs worth noting too! Friday was genuinely one of the hardest days I've had so far. Nothing out of the ordinary went wrong, but I just struggled so hard to be happy. So much so that I started crying when my sweet dad sent us a gift card for ice cream. THANK YOU, DAD! Justin got baptized on Saturday morning! I met him in a park while he was running about 2 months ago. He said he'd be interested in coming to church, and from there, he progressed to baptism. It was truly amazing to witness his conversion journey and all the little miracles along the way. A member invited us over for dinner, which also happened to be her son's wedding reception? It was quite the experience. Just so you understand a little bi...

RIP Thomas Jefferson

Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds I officially wore out my loafers, most often referred to as my Thomas Jefferson shoes, the TJs for short. The heels were so lopsided that I literally kept rolling my ankles while walking down the street. Don't worry though, I properly saluted them and gave them a presidential send-off to the dumpster. Remember how I mentioned that we were so busy? Yeah, well, overbooking ourselves for two weeks straight caught up to us and hit us like a bus. We spent the beginning of this week fighting off a nasty head cold. Three people coughing, sniffling, and shaking in a tiny apartment was not it, and quite frankly, just gross. Luckily, we were still able to get work done virtually and be present for the most important events before getting sick. I will say though, I forgot how much I relied on movies to get me through sickness. You know you're on a mission when the Book of Mormon is your main source of entertainment. All jokes aside, the Book of ...

Moving Crew

Image
Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds Everyone and their dog is moving here in Alexandria. This week alone, we helped three families move, one of which had 8 kids under the age of 14. Pure chaos and so sweaty. Good laughs though. If you're planning on moving soon, just a friendly reminder that packing and moving are two different things. We are so busy now that we have two areas to cover. We've been go, go, go the entire week and I just love it. It's tiring, but so incredibly fulfilling. Plus, my little girl gang companionship is just a riot. Sister VanDyke and Hubbard are so much fun! A member fed us Jamaican street food on Tuesday and my stomach has literally been on the struggle bus ever since. Aside from that, the members truly are amazing, and getting to know a whole new set of people has been so fun! They keep it real and it absolutely cracks me up. We're teaching, talking, and learning a lot every day. Some moments are better than others, but all things con...

Three's A Crowd

Sister Richardson's Super Split Seconds I asked for more content, and boy oh boy, did I get it. To keep this organized, I'll go in order! We visited some lady whose house was covered in cat fur and smelled like moldy cat pee. As we were trying to leave, I asked if there was anything we could pray for, and she quickly responded by asking us to pray for her flea-infested cats... yep. Such a sweet lady, but it's gonna be a no for me on the fleas. Sweet Sister Hubbard joined our crew! We are now over two areas for the rest of the transfer! It's been a little chaotic, but so much fun! So much love for my little girl gang companionship. Someone randomly called us and told us his moped was on our church property and to not tow it. We went to the church to check out the situation, and the man had locked it to the power line on the road??? We quite literally laughed out loud. Say a few prayers for my man Grant Miller and his decision-making skills. When I tell you the most rando...
